Our Legacy: the History of Dominion Worship Center

During the years 1997 to 1999, there was a group in Bakersfield who were praying for an apostolic/prophetic church to be established in the city. They believe in the saints being activated and equipped to do the work of the ministry with signs and wonders following.  Larry and Marla Black were asked through another ministry if they would be interested in pioneering this new work.  During this time, Larry & Marla were pastoring a church they planted in Greenville, Pennsylvania.  Prayers began immediately for direction. As Larry prayed, he heard the Lord say, "They've asked you to come, but I need you to come." The church held it's first service on Sunday, October 17, 1999.

The first location of the church was on Mohawk and in 2002 the church moved to 4450 Stine Road, it's current location.

Apostle Larry Black has been blessed with serving the Lord for 45 years.  In his early 20's, he was saved in the Jesus Movement in Western Pennsylvania and immediately became actively involved in the ministry.  When Apostle Larry turned 30, he married his wife, Marla, of 36 years.  Together, they have planted two churches and traveled to other nations to minister.  Apostle Larry carries an apostolic and prophetic gift with a father's heart exhorting others to live in their high call.  He imparts wisdom through the years of ministerial and marketplace experience.  Apostle Larry desires to see the body of Christ saved, healed and delivered by the power of God.

Upon receiving Christ in 1976 in the Jesus Movement, Marla Black received the call to minister to God's people in 1979.  Carrying a strong prophetic gift, Marla exhorts others to live in the high call through her mother's heart.  With a call to reformation, Marla ministers freedom to every age, gender, and race. She has traveled to other nations and is a speaker for conferences and women's meetings.
